The FIFA World Cup, expanded for the first time to 48 national teams, runs June 11 to July 19 across the United States, Canada and Mexico -- including seven matches at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium -- to determine the best team in international men’s soccer.

The top players in the world including Lionel Messi of reigning champion Argentina will compete for what is considered the biggest trophy in the most popular sport on the planet. Nothing rivals the World Cup for broad global interest, not even the Olympics.
