Cote’s Poll Dance: Prefer John Harbaugh or Mike McDaniel as Dolphins coach? Vote!

The minute the Baltimore Ravens ridiculously (*) fired head coach John Harbaugh on Tuesday, you knew this would happen: Immediate buzz and interest in Miami -- both from Dolfans who after a second straight season out of the playoffs have cooled on Mike McDaniel, and from Your Friend the Predictable Media.

(*-Why was it ridiculous for the Ravens to fire Harbaugh? Because the championship-pedigreed coach would be preparing for a playoff game this weekend had his placekicker not mega-choked and missed a last-second game-winning 44-yard goal field in the regular season finale.)

Me? I supported Miami apparently giving McDaniel one more year. His team finished on a 5-3 run and never quit on him. But! With Harbaugh sudden available, I’d make a run at him if I were the Dolphins. An upgrade is an upgrade.

Let’s not kid ourselves, though. The whole topic is almost certainly moot. Miami would not be a frontrunner; not with the Fins’ shaky quarterback situation. I think Harbaugh is worth the effort, but Fins are a longshot. New York Giants are betting favorites to land Harbaugh at 4/7 odds. Miami is tied for seventh at 14/1.

So, just for fun: Your turn.

Who would your prefer as the Dolphins’ head coach in 2026?

As always, you may vote as many times as you like or until your fingers ache. Go!

GREG COTE’S POLL DANCE: Who would you prefer as Dolphins head coach in 2026?

Previous Poll Dance result: Tua benched voted as Miami’s top 2025 sports story (Really!?): We asked, “What was South Florida’s top sports story of 2025?” The response was great (thanks). You said, Dolphins bench QB Tua Tagovailoa 55%; Hurricanes makes 1st College Football Playoff 39% (39.03); Florida Panthers win 2nd straight Stanley Cup 39% (38.58); Lionel Messi, Inter Miami win 1st MLS Cup 26%; Miami-raised Fernando Mendoza wins Heisman 15%; Heat’s Terry Rozier arrested in federal gambling probe 2%; and Miami-based Unrivaled pro basketball league debuts 1%. [Opinion: Tua benched should have finished fourth.]

Note: Totals add up to more than 100 percent because voters could select up to three choices.)
