Cote: Pats’ Maye wins Week 17, in dead heat for season lead in Herald NFL QB rank

PATRIOTS’ DRAKE MAYE WINS WEEK 17, NOW IN DEAD-HEAT WITH RAMS’ MATTHEW STAFFORD FOR SEASON TITLE, BENCHED TUA FALLS FROM TOP 20 IN LATEST MIAMI HERALD NFL QUARTERBACK RANKINGS: The 28th season of the Herald’s Passer Success System (PASS) rankings is down to the final week -- and it’s a two-man dead heat for the 2025 season championship. Patriots’ Drake Maye won the Week 17 title with a 49.80-point game to pull into a virtual tie for first overall with the Rams’ Stafford after the latter’s subpar game Monday night. Cowboy Dak Prescott and Lion Jared Goff are in mathematical contention, but the crown is Stafford’s or Maye’s to claim. Meanwhile, the Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa, idle again after being benched, slips out of the top 20 entirely. Our ratings system is cumulative, not percentile-based, rewarding players who are consistently productive and avoid injury or benching. Bye weeks negatively impacted affected players but evened out over the course of the season. Our formula factors accuracy, passing yardage, TD/interception ratio and team result. These are passer ratings per se and do not include a QB’s running statistics. The 2025 top 20 (plus all Dolphins) entering the final Week 18:
