Greg Cote’s Poll Dance: Who is Miami Hurricanes’ greatest QB ever? Vote now!
Who is the Miami Hurricanes’ greatest quarterback of all-time?
Simple question but a tough answer, as you might expect of a school that has called itself “Quarterback U” and maybe still should.
I have included in this poll the eight QBs -- listed alphabetically -- who I believe have stood out by some combination of team accomplishment led, statistics compiled or individual honors won.
Notably, eschewing recency bias, I did not include the two most recent one-year wonders: Record-setting Cam Ward from last year, or Carson Beck, who this season has led UM into the College Football Playoff. There is an “other” category in the poll, so I’ll assume votes for ‘Other’ may be interpreted as akin to write-ins for Ward or Beck. (If Beck wins four more and leads UM to its fifth national title ... yeah, he’d probably be in the next Canes-greatest-QB poll.)
Also, apologies in advance to the likes of Fran Curci, Brock Berlin, Stephen Morris, Jacory Harris, Brad Kaaya and their families. And to any other pretty good QBs who didn’t make the cut for this poll.
Ready to make a hard choice? If you think any of three or four might legitimately deserve your vote (as I do), then alleviate your guilt by voting three or four times! In fact vote as many times as you like or until your fingers ache.
GREG COTE’S POLL DANCE: Who is Miami Hurricanes’ greatest QB ever?
Previous Poll Dance verdict: Split verdict on Heat and Giannis trade: We asked, “Should Miami Heat break up what they have and go all-in on Giannis Antetokounmpo trade?” Modest vote turnout, split results. You said YES! 34%; NO! 34%; Yes but with some hesitation 19%; and No but leaning to maybe 13%. A tie as of last we looked, maybe a Poll Dance first!
