Cote: In Bills’ Allen vs. Houston D, are home dogs good bet Thursday? Our pick

NFL WEEK 12 THURSDAY PICK

BILLS (7-3) at TEXANS (5-5)

Line: BUF by 6.

Cote’s pick: BUF, 23-20.

TV: 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Prime Video.

If God invented football (although many credit Yale’s Walter Camp in 1880), then He or She surely envisioned a matchup like this one that kicks off NFL Week 12: Buffalo superman Josh Allen, off a six-touchdown production last week, facing a really good Houston defense. Texans’ D leads league in fewest points and yards allowed. Allen, who may or may not be an alien, needs no explanation. Lean Buffs outright (Allen finds ways like detectives find clues), but give HOU an upset shot and beware that point spread dissing a home dog on a two-game win streak. Texans also won have three of past four in this occasional series, including last season by three. Texans QB C.J. Stroud seemed likely Wednesday to miss a third straight game with a concussion, but fill-in Davis Mills is capable. Give us the home field, Houston’s defense and six points as a prime-time cover combo.
