Cote: Surprise Week 3 winner and Tua inches up in latest Herald NFL QB rankings
SURPRISE WINNER! BEARS’ CALEB WILLIAMS TAKES WEEK 3 CROWN, LIONS’ JARED GOFF MAINTAINS TOP SPOT OVERALL IN LATEST MIAMI HERALD NFL QUARTERBACK RANKINGS: The 28th season of the Herald’s Passer Success System (PASS) rankings christens an uncommon winner as Chicago’s Caleb Williams earns Week 3 honors with a 41.90-point game, on the low side for a winning total. He previously won Week 6 in 2024, his rookie year. Williams edged the Bills’ Josh Allen and Ravens’ Lamar Jackson for the honor, while Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa inches up one spot to 18th overall. Detroit’s Jared Goff maintains No. 1 perch for the season for a second straight week. A handful of starting QBs missing with injuries played a role in the upheaval in the top 20. Our ratings system is cumulative, not percentile-based, rewarding players who are consistently productive and avoid injury or benching. Our formula factors accuracy, passing yardage, touchdown/interception ratio and team result. These are passer ratings per se and do not include a QB’s running stats.
