It’s a big deal, their recent engagement. Even seeing it neutrally, it is. Swift is one of the biggest stars in pop music, maybe the biggest. Her fans, the Swifties, are legion. Kelce is a star NFL tight end for the recent-champion Kansas City Chiefs. Swift cheering up in a suite at Chiefs games sends TV ratings soaring.
It’s wedding of the year stuff, for sure. Yet, to some, it’s already Exhibit A in media, pop culture and social media excess and overkill.
