Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa wins Week 12, blasts into season top 20 in Herald NFL Quarterback Rankings

DOLPHINS’ TUA TAGOVAILOA BLASTS TO WEEK 12 TITLE AND INTO SEASON TOP 20; RAVENS’ LAMAR JACKSON BACK AT NO. 1 OVERALL (BUT WILL IT LAST?) IN LATEST MIAMI HERALD NFL QUARTERBACK RANKINGS: Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa scored a 50.85-point game to win Week 12 honors and blast into the season top 20 at No. 20 in the Miami Herald’s updated NFL Quarterback Rankings. Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson rose to No. 1 overall thanks in large part to a bye week by Cincy’s Joe Burrow, who dropped to second place. Jackson has a bye week remaining, which will hamper his path to the season crown. The weekly title is Tagovailoa’s first this season, while Jackson had previously ranked No. 1 after Week 10. (Tagovailoa would be top five for the year had he not missed four games with a concussion, based on his present pace.) The Herald’s Passer Success System (PASS) rankings are in their 27th season after starting in 1998 with Steve Young the inaugural season champ. Our cumulative system rewards players who are consistently productive and avoid injury or benching. Because the system is cumulative players on a bye week take a temporary hit that evens out over the course of a season. Asterisks below (*) following a player’s season point total indicates his team has a bye remaining. Byes end Week 14 with only the players so noted below having a bye still left. Our ratings formula factors accuracy, passing yardage, touchdown/interception ratio and team result. These are passer ratings per se and do not include a QB’s running statistics. The updated 2024 top 20 (plus other Dolphins) entering Week 13:
