NFL Thursday: Panthers at Bears launches Week 10. Our pick: A dreadful game. But here’s who wins
NFL WEEK 10
GREG COTE’S THURSDAY PICK
PANTHERS (1-7) at BEARS (2-7)
Line: CHI by 3 1/2.
Cote’s pick: CHI, 20-16.
TV: 8:15 p.m., Prime Video.
Potential viewing audience for a game between two NFC bottom-dwellers that are a combined 3-14: Desperate gamblers with a piece on the “under;” fantasy players who thought Bryce Young seemed like a great pick; immediate family members of Bears or Panthers players; bored prisoners. Seriously, though, it could be a great game, if you like two bad offenses creating a score that masquerades as a defensive battle. Only intrigue here is whether Chitown QB Justin Fields returns after three games out with thumb injury. On short week, I’d guess no but lean Bears anyway assuming they don’t self-inflict as usual with turnovers. CHI has won 11 of past 14 as a favorite, while Panthers are on a 2-14 road skid.
