NFL Thursday night: Chiefs to win 16th in row over Broncos, but why it will be closer than expected
NFL WEEK 6
GREG COTE’S THURSDAY PICK
BRONCOS (1-4) at CHIEFS (4-1)
Line: KC by 10 1/2.
Cote’s pick: KC 27-18.
TV: 8:15 p.m., Prime Video.
[Dear Taylor Swift: Heard you’re an avid reader of my NFL picks so I figure you’ll see this. May I make a special request that you please attend this game? I know your BFF Travis Kelce has a sore ankle and might not play; still, this game could get pretty ugly and we could really use the diversion of the constant TV shots of you up in a suite. Hope to see you. Big fan! --Greg] With out without Taylor there cheering him on, Travis should play and his Chiefs should win their 16th game in a row (!) over Denver in an AFC West domination dating to 2015. The Broncos also are riding a 2-12 skid on the road and a 1-6 rut in prime time as Sean Payton surely wonders why in the hell he ever got back into coaching. Denver’s defense has been terrible but has held Patrick Mahomes to 23 points or less in three of the past four meetings. So I’m leaning Broncos getting double digits to keep this close enough for the cover.
