Greg Cote Show podcast: Did Greg really kick a 50-yard field goal? Meet the only living eye-witness

In the newest episode of the Greg Cote Show podcast, out now, Greg is laid bare on claims of distant athletic prowess. Eye-witnesses are called in to testify -- to verify ... or not.

For years listeners of the Dan Le Batard Show With Stugotz have heard Greg make reference to having kicked a 50-yard field decades ago. The claim has become nearly legendary. Mythic folklore, almost.

More recently on Le Batard, Greg casually mentioned having beaten a former Miami Herald colleague, Phil Taylor, in a footrace decades ago.

Did any of it really happen?

We find out!

Taylor himself joins us to give his account of the race (with Greg’s wife Earleen brought in as well).

Then -- this is exciting -- we welcome in another former Herald colleague of distant yore, Hal Habib, the only living eye-witness we know of to Greg’s (claimed) 50-yard field goal other than Greg himself.

Here’s a promise: The recollections of both Phil and Hal are surprising to Greg. Find out why.

This is our 20th episode of 2022 and our 111th overall and we welcome you back as always.

Also in the newest episode:

The latest event in the Father-Son Cote Olympics: Free-throw shooting. Greg is trailing Chris 2-0 in the 10-event challenge after losses in pool and golf. Now the guys are in a local gym with a best-of-50 free throw challenge from the charity stripe. Greg is desperate. Will that do him any good?

What is the proper pronunciation of “syrup”?

Greg explains his lifelong fandom and respect for Elton John. Who is a music artist in your life who has meant more to you than just music?
