Greg Cote Show podcast: We have big, extravaganza-size plans to kick off the new year
The Greg Cote Show podcast is taking the final week of 2021 off and girding for a very special event: “GregFest: Our Year-End Best-Of Extravaganza,” dropping on Monday, January 3, 2022.
That means no new episode this Monday, but a special one you won’t want to miss next week to ring in the new year. Greg, Chris and Yeti are in our dungeon studio like elves, working tirelessly to cobble together the best and funniest stuff from our past year’s podcasts -- including fresh material!
Meantime, our week off is the perfect time to catch up with our back catalog and episodes you’ve yet to listen to or want to hear again.
We’ve done 91 episodes in all since debuting in March of 2020 including 49 in 2021.
In our latest episode (one of our best), Pulitzer Prize-winning humorist Dave Barry joins us to discuss his 2021 Holiday Gift Guide, a much-anticipated annual staple in the Miami Herald that Dave admits is every bit as ridiculous as it is fun.
You will also hear Dave discuss being a joke writer for Steve Martin, and being a part of the Rock Bottom Remainders, the all-star writers’ band that once shared a stage with Bruce Springsteen.
We get serious, too, with the beloved funny man as Dave opens up about the personal tragedy that has been a part of his past, including the sense of humor he inherited from his mother who, just months before he won the Pulitzer, took her own life.
I try not to oversell, but I promise our lengthy chat with Dave Barry is full of laughter and emotion and will not disappoint.
Also in the latest episode: Hear Greg’s new Dolphins Christmas carol -- “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Fishmas.” Chris and Greg discuss the Dolphins’ rise to .500 with a sixth win in a row. A Greg’s Lobos update and more.
Find the entire Greg Cote Show catalog HERE. New episodes drop Monday mornings at 7 a.m. on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google, Megaphone, Stitcher — all free, wherever and whenever you do your podding, including of course at Miamiherald.com. (The show also simulcasts on Sirius XM radio Mondays firom 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.).
Thank you all, pod family, for your great and growing support. Please continue to listen, rate, review, follow, then unfollow and follow again and so on. It isn’t cheating, and it helps us a ton. Tell your friends, too!
Catch up this week on all you’ve missed, and we’ll see you January 3 with “GregFest: Our Year-End Best-Of Extravaganza,” including new stuff, too.
