Greg Cote Show podcast: After 40-plus years, a live on-air reunion with Gary ‘The Bag’ Rosenfeld!
The new episode of the Greg Cote Show, out now, is a first for our podcast — and maybe for any podcast. Ever. We have a live reunion with Gary “The Bag” Rosenfeld, a childhood friend who Greg had not seen or spoken to in more than 40 years.
Greg casually referenced The Bag on a recent Le Batard Show, which inspired us to track him down and invite him on the pod. They were neighbors and pals from 1962 ‘til 76, from when Greg was 7 until he went off to college.
The two old friends reminisce about growing up in the same neighborhood, Greg’s beloved “1440.” Gary talks about the origin of his unusual nickname, what Greg was like as a boy, and who used to win at 1-on-1 basketball, street baseball, card collecting, Strat-O-Matic and all the rest.
It’s a fun journey back in time, and a glimpse at Greg before anybody knew his name or voice.
This is our 42nd podcast of 2021 and 84th overall and we welcome you back as always!
Also in the new episode:
▪ Greg, Chris and Atlanta Braves fan Yeti discuss that team’s controversial Tomahawk Chop.
▪ Greg raves about his new commode and marvels at advances in toilet technology he didn’t even know existed.
▪ PETA demands baseball change the name of its bullpen, and we discuss animal-friendly alternatives.
▪ The sad end for Florida Panthers coach Joel Quenneville and why it had to happen. Also; the hot Heat, surging Hurricanes and still-reeling Dolphins.
▪ In a Greg’s Lobos update, the midseason MVL is revealed!
▪ Oh, and if there’s strange noise toward the end of the pod, it’s because Greg and Chris recorded the last 10 minutes or so on Halloween night while trick-or-treating with Princess Belle.
