Seahawks’ Wilson wins Week 1 in Herald’s 23rd year of NFL QB rankings. Who is dead-last?
SEAHAWKS’ RUSSELL WILSON TAKES WEEK 1 TITLE TO BEGIN 23RD SEASON OF MIAMI HERALD’S NFL QUARTERBACK RANKINGS: Seattle’s Russell Wilson lost a tight race to Dallas’ Dak Prescott on the final week of the season to narrowly finish second in the Miami’s Herald’s final Passer Success System NFL quarterback rankings for 2019. But Wilson is out front to begin 2020 after a four-TD, 60.10-point performance in Week 1. Tom Brady debuts a mediocre 23rd overall after his Tampa Bay debut, with the man who replaced him in New England, Cam Newton, entering one better at 22nd. Dolphin Ryan Fitzpatrick had the worst opener of any QB with at least 10 attempts. This is the 23rd year for our annual rankings, which began in 1998 — Steve Young the inaugural season champion. Our rankings factor accuracy, passing yardage, touchdown/interception ratio and team result. They are passer ratings only and do not include a QB’s running statistics. Most major passer rankings including the NFL’s and ESPN’s are percentile based, allowing players who miss half a season to still win a title. Our system is cumulative, rewarding players who are consistently productive and avoid injury or benching. The Top 20 (and Dolphins) after Week 1:
