The Greg Cote Show With Greg Cote podcast started in March with a promise to be a variety show that will surprise you every week, and so in that spirit we come out of left field in Episode 15 with some Yogi Berra talk! No, seriously.
More than just older New York Yankees fans will love it -- guaranteed.
It’s a fun conversation with author Jon Pessah about his new book, “Yogi: A Life Behind the Mask.” Berra, despite making the Hall of Fame, is one of the most underrated, underappreciated superstars in sports history, and you’ll find out things about him you didn’t know.
The author Pessah also happens to have been a founding editor of ESPN The Magazine, and his first protege happened to be a young writer named Dan Le Batard, which we did not know when booking this guest. He shares stories of Dan as a young pup in the business.
Episode 16 also features some serious talk about what’s going on in America. About NASCAR and the Confederate flag, Dave Chappelle, Black Lives Matter and the change we are seeing right before our eyes, on our streets, in the name of George Floyd and other victims of police brutality.
Oh, and sports’ resumption plans in the context of all of this. Can we trust it will really happen this summer?
