Dolphins draft, Marlins sale, NBA playoffs, Dale Jr. and a horse make week’s Hot Button list
1. DOLPHINS
Mizzou’s Harris leads Fins’ NFL Draft: Missouri sack-man Charles Harris, whose spin move makes offensive tackles dizzy, went No. 1 for Miami as the draft wrapped up Saturday. The pass rusher’s Fins future? Is closer to Cam Wake than to Dion Jordan too much to ask?
2. MARLINS
Fish back home as sale talk accelerates: Fish host Pirates Sunday in midst of five-game homestand as pending sale of team continues to override season. The Jeb Bush/Derek Jeter group is reported frontrunner, but that’s if Jeb proves better at raising capital than at running for president.
3. NBA
Playoffs’ 1st and 2nd rounds overlap Sunday: First round ends Sunday with Jazz-Clippers Game 7 just after conference semifinals begin with Wizards-Celtics Game 1. Meanwhile, Heat’s Dion Waiters says every playoff team should be thankful it isn’t facing Miami. And he’s serious!
4. NASCAR
Junior announces this is final season: Dale Earnhardt Jr. said 2017 will be his final year of auto racing after battling a concussion most of last season. That means Homestead would be his last race if he qualifies. Dear NASCAR: Finagle the rules to make sure he qualifies. Thank you.
5. HORSE RACING
We’re six days from Kentucky Derby: Triple Crown season starts next Saturday at Churchill Downs, with Florida Derby winner Always Dreaming among favorites. Florida Panthers owner Vinnie Viola owns the horse. Hope it runs better than his hockey team did this season.
