The top selection of the 2014 NHL draft, Ekblad is expected to get a chance to stay with the Panthers through the season. Florida could send him back to juniors if he plays in nine games or less.

A two-time Stanley Cup champion over the past three seasons with the Los Angeles Kings, Mitchell led the Kings with 128 blocked shots last year and was named team captain on Monday.

Montoya was signed for two years after four years with the Islanders and Winnipeg. The first Cuban-American to play in the NHL, Montoya recorded two shutouts for the Jets last year.
