Brandon Harris among 11 cut by Dolphins ahead of roster deadline
Ex-Miami Hurricane corner Brandon Harris and wide receiver Matt Hazel, a former sixth-round pick, were among the 11 players cut by the Dolphins Saturday.
Meanwhile, Andrew Franks and John Denney won their in-camp position battles at kicker and long snapper, as the Dolphins parted ways with Marshall Koehn and Ryan DiSalvo.
The other seven players cut Saturday: linebacker Akil Blount, interior lineman Ruben Carter, wide receiver A.J. Cruz, tight end Gabe Hughes, cornerback Al Louis-Jean, guard Vinston Painter and wide receiver Brandon Shippen.
The NFL deadline to pare rosters down to 75 is 4 p.m. Tuesday; after Saturday’s moves, Miami still needs to release three more players to be compliant.
Based on pedigree, Harris is the biggest name gone. The former second-round pick has been in the league since 2011.
