Dallas Thomas on Sunday said what most every pro athlete believes: There are a lot of trolls whose courage only comes when they’re behind a keyboard.

“Social media gives people — what's a good way to say it? — it gives them balls that they wouldn't say to your face,” Thomas said.

Anyone who’s ever been on Twitter knows this to be true.

Thomas is an easy target for Dolphins fans’ angst. The left guard has struggled during his time in Miami, and did so again on at least one play in Friday night’s preseason game against the Giants.

Giants defensive end Owa Odighizuwa bull-rushed Thomas into Ryan Tannehill’s lap — and his legion of critics pounced.

Thomas acknowledged he did spend a lot of time on Twitter as a rookie, but “I just outgrew it. Social media is overrated.”

The Dolphins returned to practice Sunday, and Thomas was again with the starters at left guard, although he did rotate with rookie Laremy Tunsil.
