Jonas Gray is back on the active roster.

Whether he's activated for Sunday's game against the Bills might depend on Lamar Miller's ankle.

Miller has pledged to play after getting hurt against the Jaguars, but the Dolphins felt the need to elevate Gray from their practice squad to the active roster on Wednesday.

Gray, who has bounced back and forth between the developmental squad and the 53 this young season, is best known for his 201-yard rushing performance for the Patriots last year.

But he fell out of favor in New England and had just 20 carries the rest of the season.

The Dolphins have struggled to establish the run this season. They rank 30th league-wide in rushing yards per game (58) and 26th in yards per attempt (3.4).
