Three Dolphins players still recovering from injuries that kept them out in 2025
Three Miami Dolphins that suffered significant injuries in 2025 are still recovering.
Running back De’Von Achane, tackle Austin Jackson and cornerback Storm Duck won’t fully participate in organized training activities (OTAs) on Wednesday, per coach Jeff Hafley.
Achane is still recovering from the shoulder injury that kept him out of the Dolphins Week 18 matchup against New England Patriots. Jackson, on the other hand, is still rehabbing from a foot injury that cost him 11 games in 2025. Duck is still working his way back from an ACL injury that limited him to just two games in 2025.
One of the top running backs in the NFL last year, Achane is expected to be the focal point of the Dolphins offense in 2026 when healthy.
“He had something in his shoulder that he had to get cleaned up,” Hafley said Wednesday morning. “He did that and he’s rehabbing right now.”
Although Jackson has been a bit hobbled as of late, playing in just 32 games since 2022, he’s still one of the Dolphins’ best run-blockers at full strength. He’s recovery is paramount to the run-first mentality that Miami will employ in 2026.
“I’ll give him a lot of credit,” Hafley said of Jackson. “Last year, he hurt his foot. A lot of guys in that situation would’ve opted to have surgery and got something done during [the season] but he battled through it.”
Added Hafley: “He obviously just had that fixed, and he’s on the way to getting better as well.”
With the Dolphins’ offensive identity shifting in real time, both Achane and Jackson’s recovery are quintessential if this team wants to experience even a modicum of success. The former Texas A&M standout rushed for 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns in 2025.
In addition to recording a league-leading 5.7 yards per carry, he also added another 488 yards and three touchdowns through the air off of a team-high 67 receptions. His 1,838 yards from scrimmage ranked second in franchise history behind Ricky Williams in 2002.
Achane, who just signed a four-year extension worth $68 million, and the Dolphins will look to build upon his 2025 success upon his recovery.
