Dolphins vs. Steelers live updates: Steelers take control

Steelers take control in third quarter

After scoring on its final drive of the first half, Pittsburgh marched 71 yards on six plays to take a commanding 14-3 lead early in the third.

There was confusion on Miami’s secondary on Aaron Rodger’s 19-yard TD pass to Marquez Valdez Scantling. Ifeatu Melifonwu looked back after the TD catch, thinking a cornerback would help him.

Jalen Ramsey ended Miami’s next possession with a sack on a blitz.

The Steelers then scored again, on a Rodgers pass to DK Metcalf, making it 21-3. That 10-play, 77 yard drive essentially put the game out of reach.

The Miami Dolphins (6-7) are in Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers (7-6) with a chance to return to .500.

Steelers lead 7-3 at the half. Steelers get the ball first in the third, which is the Dolphins’ WORST quarter of the season.

Rookie tailback Ollie Gordon II injured his left ankle on a second quarter carry that resulted in a 5-yard loss.

Gordon limped off the field after the play, and if he’s not able to return the Dolphins would finish the game with De’Von Achane and Jaylen Wright as the only available tailbacks.

INACTIVES:

The Dolphins will be without special teams ace Elijah Campbell (ankle/ knee) as well as offensive lineman Larry Borom (illness).

Borom was added to the injury report Monday afternoon. Campbell was initially listed as doubtful with his set of injuries.

Other inactives include cornerback AJ Green III, receiver Tahj Washington, defensive tackle Matthew Butler and Quinn Ewers, the latter of whom will serve as the emergency third quarterback.
