Dolphins vs. Jets: who should I start on my fantasy football team?
The Miami Dolphins have almost done it.
Having won three consecutive games, the Dolphins are approaching .500.
Two victories are needed — Miami currently sits at 5-7 — but the dramatic turnaround that has occurred during the last month or so needs to be praised.
As the Dolphins prepare to face the New York Jets, a lot more will be on the line than just another victory. Can the new-look Jets and first-year head coach Aaron Glenn earn his first victory against the Dolphins? Can Miami inch one step closer to resurrecting its season? Can Tua Tagovailoa find the same comfort in this offense that he has felt in prior years?
All this and more will be answered on the next episode of Dolphins vs. Jets. First things first, let’s dive into the fantasy matchup.
START
Dolphins RB De’Von Achane
The former Texas A&M standout has played like a top-five running back all year, and there’s no reason that should change come Sunday.
Not only did the Jets lose two of its best defensive players in cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, they will be without their starting nickel corner in Jarvis Brownlee Jr.
Expect more production from Achane through the air after he recorded his first zero-catch game of the season vs. the New Orleans Saints.
Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle
Tyreek Hill was on the way to his best performance of 2025 prior to his gruesome knee injury that knocked the star receiver out of the Dolphins’ first matchup against the Jets.
Now, it will be Waddle’s turn.
Yes, Waddle has been limited during the past two games as teams have shaded their coverage his way. The return of Darren Waller should help in that regard — Waddle’s longest catch vs. the Saints came when the defense focused too much on the tight end — yet more than that, it’s time for another significant performance from the veteran.
SIT
Jets QB Tyrod Taylor
The Dolphins’ defense has been up and down all year.
That said, the defense found something against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.
The recipe is rather simple — hit the quarterback within reason whenever possible — and if the defense can replicate its performance against the Bills, it could get a bit scary for Taylor.
WAIT & SEE
Dolphins TE Darren Waller
In his first game since Week 7, Waller led the team in receiving yards against the Saints.
The issue: he did all his production — two catches for 47 yards — in the first quarter.
That’s part of what makes Waller a tricky player to gauge. On one hand, the talent and red-zone production certainly appear to be there. On the other, the Dolphins not only remain cautious about his reintroduction to the offense, the Saints totally took Waller out of the game.
Obviously, most of this depends on Tagovailoa’s execution, something that has been shaky as of late as the quarterback leads the league in interceptions with 14. The duo connected on two touchdowns during Waller’s season debut, ironically against the Jets. Hopefully, that connection will prove strong Sunday.
Jets receiver Adonai Mitchell
The former Texas receiver had his breakout game in Week 13 with a 100-yard performance against the Atlanta Falcons that was punctuated with his first career touchdown.
Now comes the million-dollar question: can he replicate that showing?
He certainly has the target share to do so — 25 across his first three games as a Jet — but it will ultimately come down to how much time Taylor has to distribute the ball.
