Dolphins vs. Saints live updates: Phins take early lead in first half

The Miami Dolphins (4-7) will look to extend its win streak to three games with a victory over the New Orleans Saints (2-9).

Start your game day here:

Tua tough day continues

Tagovailoa was off on his ball placement all day. The latest example: a 3rd and 1 throw to Julian Hill on Miami’s first second half possession. Hill dropped the pass, which was catchable, but Tagovailoa could have made it easier on Hill with better ball placement.

Saints show offensive life

After gaining just 63 yards in the first half, the Saints engineered a 10-play, 65-yard drive to begin the second half, ending in a Tyler Shough 17-yard touchdown pass to Chris Olave, beating Rasul Douglas. Shough then scrambled into the end zone for a two-point conversion, slicing Miami’s lead to 16-8.

Shough had just 43 yards passing and Olave just one catch in the first half.

Dolphins already on the board:

That was easy.

Six offensive plays into the game, De’Von Achane found the end zone on a 29-yard run to the right.

INACTIVES:

The reinforcements are officially back.

Right tackle Austin Jackson and tight end Darren Waller will make their return to the Miami Dolphins lineup after more than a month of recovery from their respective injuries. Sidelined with a broken toe since the end of the Dolphins’ Week 1 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, Jackson hopes to be a boon to the offensive line, while Waller’s return gives Tua Tagovailoa another weapon in the passing game. The star tight had been out with a pectoral injury since Week 7.

Also active: Rasul Douglas and defensive tackle Benito Jones, both of whom were initially listed as questionable. Douglas’ return will be huge for the defense as the cornerback has missed the last two games with foot and ankle injuries.

In terms of inactive players, that list includes cornerback A.J. Green III, linebacker Andre Carter II, wide receiver Tahj Washington, defensive tackle Matthew Butler and Quinn Ewers, the latter of whom will serve as the emergency third quarterback.
