Dolphins activate Andrew Meyer, put three players on IR, make seven roster moves

The Dolphins made seven roster moves on Saturday, moving center Andrew Meyer and receiver Theo Wease to the 53-man roster and placing receiver Dee Eskridge, cornerback Isaiah Johnson and defensive tackle Benito Jones on injured reserve.

The Dolphins also elevated linebacker Derrick McLendon and offensive lineman Josh Priebe from the practice squad, making them available for Sunday’s home game against Tampa Bay (1 p.m., WSVN Fox 7).

Meyer, who had been sidelined since late August with a triceps injury, came off injured reserve Saturday and gives the Dolphins another option if a neck injury limits starter Aaron Brewer or prevents him from playing on Sunday. Brewer said he hopes to extend his consecutive game streak, which stands at 58, but likely won’t know if he’s playing until hours before kickoff.

Meyer was impressive during training camp but has been sidelined since sustaining the injury during preseason. Mike McDaniel said he could play guard but that his best position is center.

In his NFL debut last week, Wease had two receptions for 32 yards but was called for a dubious offensive pass interference penalty and blamed himself for a pass that was deflected by a Bengals defender and intercepted. The Dolphins moved the undrafted Missouri rookie from the practice squad to the 53-man roster on Saturday.

The seasons are over for Eskridge (who has a toe injury), Johnson (who sustained a torn ACL during practice Tuesday) and Jones (who is dealing with a back injury). Jones and Eskridge will be free agents after the season.

McLendon and Priebe are set to make their NFL and Dolphins regular-season debuts. McLendon, an outside linebacker who began his career with Carolina as a 2024 undrafted free agent, impressed during Dolphins training camp and has spent the season on Miami’s practice squad.

Priebe started 29 games for Michigan, primarily at left guard, and joined the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in April. He has spent the season on the practice squad.

The Dolphins opted not to activate Jason Sanders off injured reserve on Saturday and will stick, at least another week, with Riley Patterson, who has filled in for Sanders all season while he works his way back from an August hip injury.

The Dolphins opted not to put safety Minkah Fitzpatrick on injured reserve, though he’s out Sunday with a calf injury.

Brewer (neck) and linebacker Tyrel Dodson (chest) are listed as questionable for Sunday.

Tampa Bay will be without left tackle Tristan Wirfs, who has a toe injury.

The Dolphins (6-9) enter Sunday 11th in draft order but would finish the day no lower than 10th if they lose to Tampa Bay. Miami could move as high as eighth if the Dolphins lose and the Saints and Bengals win.

A Carolina win against visiting Seattle and a Tampa loss in Miami would clinch the NFC South for the Panthers. Otherwise, Tampa Bay and Carolina will meet next week in Tampa to determine the division title.

The Dolphins will finish their season on Jan. 3 or 4 at New England. Dates and start times for all Week 18 games will be announced late Sunday night.
