Dolphins vs. Bills: who should I start on my fantasy football team?
The Miami Dolphins’ season might be coming to a close.
At 2-7 and losses to the Cleveland Browns as well as the Carolina Panthers, the Dolphins might as well pack it in for 2025.
That, however, doesn’t mean your fantasy football season is over. And as Josh Allen leads the Buffalo Bills into a Sunday afternoon matchup at Hard Rock Stadium, there certainly will be fantasy options.
Let’s dive in.
START
Bills QB Josh Allen
The reigning MVP will trot into town Sunday on a two-game win streak following a win over his arch-nemesis Patrick Mahomes.
And as Omar Kelly likes to say, Allen has been the Dolphins’ daddy for a long time, and he wants to come check on his kids.
This is a no-brainer. Start the man who has thrown more touchdowns against the Dolphins than his other AFC East foes combined.
Dolphins RB De’Von Achane
Despite a dismal 2-7 record, Achane has been one of the few bright spots on this team.
And while the offense has looked subpar at times, the third-year tailback has been a revelation. Achane, to his credit, has also looked pretty solid against the Bills.
Consider this: in his five matchups versus Buffalo, Achane has averaged roughly 111 yards of total offense and a touchdown.
Even if the offense struggles, he will still be a major contributor – whether it’s on the ground or through the air.
Bills RB James Cook
Hurray!
The Dolphins no longer have the worst rushing defense in the NFL. Progress is progress as Miami moved up to the third worst!
That said, Cook will likely still — wait for it — “cook” the Dolphins on Sunday. How do we know that? Well, the former Miami Central standout loves to come back home.
In his two games that he played at Hard Rock Stadium as the Bills starter, Cook has averaged at least one touchdown. That, more than anything, deserves a starting spot.
SIT
Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa
The franchise quarterback is amid the worst season of his career.
Through nine games, Tagovailoa has tossed 11 picks, second only to Geno Smith. The former Alabama standout is on pace for a career-high 21 if he continues at this current rate.
All this to say the obvious: Tagovailoa should be nowhere near your lineup come Sunday. Not only does he have a 1-9 record against the Bills, he has thrown equal touchdowns (11) as he has interceptions. Keep him on the bench for now.
WAIT & SEE
Dolphins TE Greg Dulcich
The four-year veteran had quite the breakout game against the Ravens.
Dulcich snagged all five of his targets for 49 yards, his best performance since his rookie year in 2022.
The question then becomes can he sustain it?
On one hand, the Dolphins did release Tanner Conner on Thursday, meaning that there could be more tight end snaps in Dulcich’s future. On the other, the Bills have grown into the second-best team against opposing tight ends, per ESPN Fantasy Football.
There might be better options at tight end but Dulcich might be worth a streamer if your starter is on a bye.
Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle
The Dolphins’ offense doesn’t have many weapons outside Achane and Waddle.
If Miami intends to be competitive, Waddle will likely be involved.
Then again, Waddle’s numbers against the Bills leave much to be desired. In his eight games, he has posted an average of four catches for roughly 52 yards.
That has been the real unfortunate part about the Dolphins’ offense in 2025. It’s impossible to predict, something that makes fantasy extremely difficult.
