Dolphins fans fly another banner above Hard Rock Stadium prior to game vs. Jets
Another game, another plane flying above Hard Rock Stadium to express Miami Dolphins fans’ displeasure with the floundering franchise.
Ahead of the Dolphins’ showdown with the also-winless New York Jets on Monday Night Football, a plane took to the Miami Gardens skies with a banner trailing behind: “HELP WANTED: NEW COACH, NEW GM, NEW QB.”
With three straight losses to start the season, the Dolphins are off to their worst start since 2019 when they opened the year with seven straight losses and didn’t win a game until November.
A similar plane flew above Hard Rock before Miami’s loss to the Patriots on Sept. 14 — the Dolphins’ most recent home game before they played in the national spotlight Monday—with a banner reading: “FIRE [general manager Chris] GRIER. FIRE [coach Mike] MCDANIEL.”
This time, the frustrated fan — or fans — threw in quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, too.
The awful start to the 2025-26 NFL season has all Grier, McDaniel and Tagovailoa under the microscope. Grier has been the GM since 2016 and has only guided Miami to the playoffs three times, with a trip to the postseason already looking unlikely this year. McDaniel is in his fourth season as coach and, after leading the Dolphins to the playoffs in each of his first two seasons, had lost 12 of his last 20 games entering the week. Tagovailoa had just five touchdowns and four interceptions, and only 575 passing yards in the first three games of the season, regressing badly in the two years since he led the NFL in passing yards during the 2023 NFL season.
