Publix just revamped its deli’s Miami Dolphins Pub Sub. See what’s inside
There’s a new Miami Dolphins lineup this season — and we’re not talking about the team that took the field Sunday in the opening game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Publix has glowed up its Dolphins Sub with new ingredients.
But is it a winner?
It certainly didn’t fall flat like the Dolphins did in their opener — it has a kick thanks to a roster of sweet and spicy ingredients.
What’s in the Dolphins Sub?
Here’s what’s in the Dolphins Sub for its 2025 debut:
- Publix deli chicken tenders
- Sweet sriracha sauce
- Spicy three-pepper cheese
Here’s what was in the previous themed Dolphins Sub:
- Tavern ham
- Smoked pork
- Swiss cheese
- Crispy jalapeños and lemon-garlic aioli
You can add your choice of toppings such as veggies and condiments. Regular Pub Sub pricing: $11.99 for a whole or $8.39 for a half.
Florida’s other Pub Subs
Lakeland-based Publix has had NFL-themed Pub Subs since at least 2015 for Florida’s football teams, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Like the teams, the subs periodically swap out fillings for new fill-ins, like the chicken tenders for the first time instead of the tavern ham in the revamped Dolphins Sub, according to Publix spokeswoman Lindsey Willis.
The 2025 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sub has chicken tenders, Boar’s Head fully cooked bacon, Publix Deli imported cheddar cheese, Spicy Gold sauce, and lettuce and tomato.
The Jacksonville Jaguars sub has chicken tenders, bacon, cheddar cheese, coleslaw and barbecue sauce.
Willis said so far Publix just has the NFL teams on its deli list. Sorry, Canes — no collegiate Pub Subs at this time. Maybe we can create our own by replicating the U’s orange and green from the veggies toppings: a little shaved carrot, a little lettuce.
NFL cupcakes
Publix also has themed NFL team cupcakes that are decorated with the team’s colors and logos, including the Miami Dolphins.
Fun foodie football facts
Publix released some game day fun facts about its Florida and Atlanta teams’ deli subs and football fields’ measurements.
It would take about:
- 2.5 billion Chicken Tender Pub Subs to fill Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium.
- 3.3 billion Chicken Tender Pub Subs to fill Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium.
- 2.3 billion Chicken Tender Pub Subs to fill Jacksonville’s EverBank Stadium.
- 8.1 billion Chicken Tender Pub Subs to fill Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Publix calculated its volume assuming a Chicken Tender Pub Sub is 129.38 cubic inches. The stadiums’ cubic inches aren’t publicly released but the Hard Rock Stadium’s parking lot alone is 140 acres and it seats about 65,000 at football games, although it seems like a billion when Taylor Swift comes to town for a tour.
