Miami Dolphins

Here’s everything you need to know about Sunday’s Dolphins-Colts game

The Miami Dolphins open the 2025 regular season on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

Here’s what you need to know:

When is the game?

Sunday’s game starts at 1 p.m.

Where is the game?

The game will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium Indianapolis, Ind.

How can I watch the game?

The game can be watched on CBS4 Miami and Paramount +.

Who isn’t suiting up?

As of Friday evening, the Dolphins will be without tight end Darren Waller (hip), running back Jaylen Wright (knee) and cornerback Ethan Bonner (hamstring).

Two players — starting right guard James Daniels (ankle) and wide receiver Dee Eskridge (concussion) — are questionable.

The good news: star wideout Tyreek Hill (oblique/ calf) and tailback De’Von Achane (calf) each logged full practices on Friday, meaning they plan to play vs. the Colts.

What’s the significance of Sunday’s game?

Fun fact: Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and Hill are all undefeated in season openers.

And while history has no bearing on this current iteration of the Dolphins, it can be gleaned that the trio knows how to prepare for Week 1.

That much is important considering the Dolphins not only had an embarrassing 16-10 loss to the Colts in 2024, but because they need to start the 2025 season off on a positive note. The Dolphins have some tough opponents on their schedule — the Buffalo Bills (twice), the Los Angeles Chargers, the Baltimore Ravens, the Cincinnati Bengals — and one of the best ways to build confidence for those games will be to beat who you’re supposed to beat. And don’t get it twisted: the Dolphins are supposed to beat the Colts.
