Dolphins vs. Jaguars live updates: Fins squeak out 14-6 victory over Jags
The Miami Dolphins finished the preseason undefeated after a 14-6 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Although the game started relatively slow, big plays from receiver Mailk Washington and tailback Mike Boone led to scores. On the other side of the ball, edge rushers Bradley Chubb, Jaelan Phillips, Chop Robinson and Derrick McLendon contributed sacks to help limit the Jaguars to just two field goals.
Here’s everything you missed:
John Saunders Jr. calls game
Don’t try the rookie!
Saunders picked off quarterback Seth Henigan on the Jaguars’ final drive of the day. As if securing the interception wasn’t enough, the safety subsequently returned it a whopping 51 yards.
That’s now back-to-back games that a member of the Dolphins secondary has sealed the game with a pick. Last week against the Detroit Lions, rookie cornerback Ethan Robinson caught the game-deciding interception.
Mike Boone run increases lead
The Dolphins struck on their first drive of the second half — a seven-yard outside run courtesy of the tailback. Fins are now up 14-6.
What a catch by Eazy E
With the Dolphins knocking on the door of the red zone but facing fourth-and-16, quarterback Zach Wilson found receiver Erik Ezukanma on a post route for 17 yards. Ezukanma made quite the catch as he was able to jump and secure the ball despite Jaguars cornerback Keni-H Lovely hitting him in the air.
What’s going on with Jason Sanders?
The Dolphins kicker hasn’t been available all game.
Sanders apparently suffered an injury that forced him back into the locker room.
Punter Jake Bailey has handled kickoff as well as field goal duties.
Malik Washington shows moves en route to touchdown
The second-year wideout juked a Jaguars defender out of his shoes enroute to a 25-yard catch-and-run touchdown. Shoutout Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for finding Washington despite the pressure in his face.
Edge rushers showing out
It started on the Jaguars’ first offensive play.
Chop Robinson easily manuevered around the Jaguars offensive lineman for the sack.
Fast forward to the third series and something amazing happened: Bradley Chubb and Jaelen Phillips, both of whom missed significant time in 2024, combined for their first sack of 2025.
You love to see it.
Jordyn Brooks sighting
The starting linebacker suffered an apparent injury towards the end of Thursday’s joint practice with the Jaguars.
Although the severity was unknown, Brooks dressed for Saturday’s game.
The issue: he has yet to play a snap. That’s definitely something to monitor over the next few days.

Jags to rest starters
Jaguars coach Liam Coen will opt to rest his starters for the preseason finale vs. the Dolphins, per the Daytona Beach News-Journal.
“We are not going to play our starters,” Jaguars coach Liam Coen said. “We got them the two weeks of work in the first two games.”
With the NFL roster cut deadline on Tuesday, Coen wants to give some of the players who aren’t guaranteed a roster spot an opportunity to either show why they belong or deserve a chance from another team.
“It’ll be a lot of young guys getting some quality work,” Coen continued, “and there’s a lot of guys that are going to play that are fighting for a roster spot or fighting for a roster spot potentially on somebody else’s team. So, this is valuable tape, a great challenge.”
