Dolphins bringing in skilled pass rusher Matthew Judon for a visit

Outside linebacker might be the Dolphins’ deepest position, but they aren’t done looking for help there.

Matthew Judon, a four-time Pro Bowl outside linebacker, is visiting with the Dolphins on Monday, a source confirmed.

NFL reporter Aaron Wilson said Judon is expected to sign with Miami barring anything unforeseen. A source confirmed strong mutual interest on both sides.

Judon, 33, has 72 career sacks, including 5.5 last season for the Falcons, when he also had 42 tackles (including seven for loss) and an interception in 17 games and 15 starts.

Pro Football Focus rated him poorly last season, slotting him 118th of 119 qualifying outside linebackers.

Judon played only four games in 2023 due to a torn biceps.

But he played 17 games in 2021 and 2022 and again in 2024 and had 12.5, 15.5 and 5.5 sacks in those three seasons.

He spent his first five seasons with Baltimore, his next three with New England and last season with Atlanta, which acquired him from the Patriots for a third-round pick.

Judon made the Pro Bowl each season from 2019 through 2022.

It was not immediately clear whether Judon’s potential addition is the result of an injury. Jaelan Phillips hasn’t practiced in a week, but the team has suggested the injury is not significant.

Chop Robinson returned to practice Thursday after being carted off Wednesday. There is no known injury to Bradley Chubb.

Those three players are expected to handle the majority of snaps at outside linebacker this season.

Five other outside linebackers are competing for backup jobs at the position — Derrick McLendon, Grayson Murphy, Mo Kamara, Quinton Bell and Cameron Goode.

At 6-3 and 275 pounds, Judon would become Miami’s heaviest outside linebacker.

Dolphins defensive lineman Zach Sieler is expected to miss somewhere between “days and weeks” with an undisclosed injury, according to coach Mike McDaniel, who added that Sieler could have played in Saturday’s preseason win against Detroit if it had been a regular-season game.
