Miami Dolphins add cornerback depth with Kendall Sheffield
The Miami Dolphins have signed cornerback Kendall Sheffield.
Sheffield most recently played with the New York Jets in 2024 but spent time with the Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons. He also had a stint on the Dallas Cowboys practice squad.
The 28-year-old cornerback has appeared in 49 games during his career and started 20. He has totaled 108 tackles, six pass breakups and two forced fumbles.
The Falcons drafted Sheffield in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. A native of Missouri City, Texas, Sheffield played his college ball at Ohio State.
Sheffield could potentially compete for a starting role considering the Dolphins and cornerback Jalen Ramsey have already “mutually agreed” to seek a trade. That would leave just two corners — Storm Duck and Artie Burns — on the roster with multiple starts to theeir name. Sheffield, however, hasn’t started more than five games in a season since his first two years with the Falcons.
