Defensive tackle Benito Jones re-signs with Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins have re-signed defensive tackle Benito Jones.

A 15-game starter in 2024, Jones finished 24 combined tackles, four tackles for loss and three quarterback hits.

The Dolphins signed Jones as an undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss in 2020. He appeared in six games with the Dolphins before the team subsequently relegated him to the practice squad for the 2021 season. The Dolphins again signed him in the spring of 2022 then waived him in late August.

Following Jones’ departure from Miami, the Detroit Lions claimed Jones. He spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons in Detroit where he started 15 games. With the Lions, Jones racked up 42 combined tackles, three tackles for loss and 10 quarterback hits.

Over his four year career, he has accumulated 68 combined tackles, 2.5 sacks and eight tackles for loss.

With Calais Campbell’s future in Miami unclear, the Dolphins have a huge hole at defensive tackle. Jones will look to add depth to a room that already includes a star in defensive tackle Zach Sieler.
