Dolphins bring in FCS star with eye-popping numbers. And more on Jalen Ramsey fallout

The Dolphins, who have been flying in a bunch of prospects for last-minute predraft visits, hosted one of the nation’s best under-the-radar FCS receivers this week.

Elon receiver Chandler Brayboy visited team headquarters, according to a source.

Brayboy, 6-0, is a multipurpose weapon who had 979 receiving yards last season (on 59 receptions with eight touchdowns), 121 rushing yards (on just eight carries) and two kickoff returns for a touchdown.

Brayboy, who grew up in Pembroke, North Carolina, clocked a 4.47 in the 40 yard dash.

Brayboy, who was named a second-team FCS All American in December, averaged 35.3 yards on his 16 kickoff returns, which was second in FCS.

He finished sixth in FCS in all-purpose yards (151.4 per game), No. 13 in receiving yards per game (89.0) and No. 30 in receiving touchdowns (eight).

Teams can bring in 30 non-local players for predraft visits, and Brayboy counts as one of them. Here are some of Miami’s other 30 visits.

Ramsey financial fallout

Among the unfortunate upshots of a likely trade involving Jalen Ramsey, who is looking to be dealt:

Miami will take a significant cap hit if he’s traded before June 1. Ramsey’s hit on Miami’s 2025 books will jump from $16.6 million to $25.2 million if he’s traded for a draft pick or picks in this month’s draft.

If he’s traded after June 1 for a player or a 2026 draft pick, his Dolphins 2025 Dolphins dead money cap hit would drop to $6.7 million.

If the Dolphins trade him before June 1, Miami would have only $7 million in space, barely enough to sign a draft class and practice squad.

And this is staggering: If the Dolphins trade Ramsey, 16.6% of their 2025 cap would be allocated toward dead money hits for cornerbacks no longer on the team. Beyond the potential $25.2 million dead money hit on Ramsey, the Dolphins also have a $15.7 million dead money hit on Xavien Howard in 2025 and a $5.4 million hit on Kendall Fuller.

The Dolphins have another $9 million in 2025 dead money cap hits on four others who are no longer on the team — Raheem Mostert, Durham Smythe, Shaquil Barrett and Odell Beckham, per overthecap.com.
