Turns out the 2024 Miami Dolphins actually weren’t shut out when it came to Pro Bowlers.

Jonnu Smith, who set a Dolphins record for receptions, yards and touchdowns at tight end this past season, was named to the AFC roster for the 2025 Pro Bowl Games.

Smith replaced Travis Kelce, who will be participating in the Super Bowl, which made him ineligible to participate in next week’s Pro Bowl activities.

Smith, a former Florida International standout who signed a two-year deal worth $8.4 million last offseason, caught a record-setting 88 passes and turned them into 884 yards and eight touchdowns in the 17 games he played for the 8-9 Dolphins.

Those numbers allowed Smith to finish the season as one of the NFL’s top tight ends, ranking fourth in catches and receiving yards, while tying for second in touchdowns. He also set career highs in receiving yards and receptions, and matched his career best for receiving touchdowns in his first season with the Dolphins.

Even though Smith got off to a slow start with the Dolphins, the 29-year-old, who spent his previous eight seasons with the Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons, was consistently praised for how hard he worked by his coaches and teammates.

Smith was routinely the last player off the practice field, and now he reaps his reward, achieving one of his main goals for this season.

The 2025 Pro Bowl Games will take place in Orlando at Camping World Stadium, beginning with the Skills Challenge live on ESPN from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

It continues on Sunday with cumulative scoring from Thursday’s skills contests building up to the flag football matchup, which will be aired line on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on ESPN and ABC.
