Miami Dolphins

Dolphins-Packers live blog: Mental mistakes lead to Fins being down in second half

The Miami Dolphins will look to extend their win streak to four games against the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving.

Miami just kicked off so keep it locked here.

Dolphins show a little bit of fight:

Down 27-3 late in the third quarter, the Dolphins could’ve very easily given up.

Instead, they put together an eight play, 70-yard drive that ended with a De’Von Achane receiving touchdown.

Tua Tagovailoa then found Jaylen Waddle for a two-point conversion that cut the Packers’ lead to 27-11.

Cam Smith ruled out:

The Dolphins secondary just can’t catch a break.

Smith went down with a shoulder injury late in the second quarter. He was initially listed as questionable, however, the Dolphins ruled him out at the start of the third quarter.

With Kendall Fuller still in concussion protocol and Kader Kohou’s availability in question, the cornerback position is extremely thin.

HALFTIME NOTES

The Dolphins are down 24-3 to the Packers.

The Dolphins run game has been dismal — seven carries for 14 yards — to say the least.

The Packers have scored on four of their six drives.

Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill have combined for two catches 18 yards. Hill specifically only has one catch for two yards.

With 16 carries for 102 yards, the Packers have run rampant on the Dolphins defense.

Benito Jones questionable:

The defensive tackle went down in the second quarter with a back injury.

He’s questionable to return.

Dolphins finally get on the board:

The Packers have certainly stifled the Dolphins’ run game.

Tua Tagovailoa, however, had a bit of success through the air, leading the Dolphins to the redzone. Unfortunately, the Dolphins couldn’t punch it in and were forced to take a 33-yard field goal.

Packers remain up 14-3.

Kader Kohou questionable:

A collision in the first quarter led to the nickel cornerback being slow to get up.

Kohou eventually walked off the field under his own power but after a trip to the medical blue tent, the Dolphins listed him as questionable with a back injury. He was evaluated for a concussion yet was cleared.

The nickel cornerback’s injury couldn’t have come at a worst time. Starting cornerback Kendall Fuller has missed the last three games with concussion.

Muffed punt leads to Packers score:

You couldn’t ask for a worse start.

Granted, the defense was amazing. They forced a 3-and-out. Then Malik Washington dropped the punt.

The Packers recovered the ball in the redzone and punched it in a few plays later.

Green Bay leads 7-0.

Tua Tagovailoa versus the cold:

Tagovailoa is 0-4 in games when the temperature is 40º Fahrenheit or below at kickoff.

The temperature currently in Green Bay?

A brisk 26º.

Inactives:

Terron Armstead will suit up tonight, per the Miami Dolphins inactive list.

The Pro Bowl left tackle hasn’t practiced in two weeks and was initially listed as questionable.

Other inactives include linebacker Anthony Walker Jr., quarterback Tyler Huntley, tight end Jack Stoll, wide receiver Dee Eskridge as well as cornerbacks Ethan Bonner and Kendall Fuller.

Shaq Barrett not returning to Dolphins:

The Dolphins decided not to activate the two-time Pro Bowler off of the reserve/ retired list.

Barrett signed with the Dolphins in the 2024 offseason but abruptly retired right before training camp. Earlier this week, however, Barrett decided to return to football. The Dolphins, however, opted to not add him to the active roster and don’t intend to release him either.
