Colts’ Jonathan Taylor ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins’ road to victory on Sunday just got a little bit easier.
Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor won’t suit up against the Dolphins as he continues to nurse a high ankle sprain, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. A combination of Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson will likely take Taylor’s snaps.
“We’ve been progressing every single day, just pushing myself, trying to find a way to get the pain out,” Taylor told the Indianapolis Star on Thursday. “Anything you can do. Anything you can do to get back on the field with your guys you’ve been working, scratching and clawing with all offseason, all training camp and all offseason. Doing everything in my power to get back on that field.”
One of the best backs in the league, Taylor hasn’t played since Sept. 29. The All-Pro back has rushed for 72 carries for 349 yards and four touchdowns in 2024. He missed seven games in 2023 and another six in 2022. Taylor’s best year was by far 2021 when he rushed for more than 1800 yards and 18 touchdowns.
“He’s arguably one of the best backs in all of football, especially in the last few years,” Calais Campbell said. “But he’s one of the best I’ve ever faced – different level of speed, great vision, jump cut, acceleration, break tackle, he has it all. With the ball in his hands, he’s a threat to take it to the house every time.”
Although Taylor won’t play, the Colts will have their young quarterback Anthony Richardson back, according to multiple reports, for the first time since Sept. 29.
