Odell Beckham Jr. fires off at fans insinuating he’s in Miami for the lifestyle
Odell Beckham Jr. didn’t take kindly to fans suggestions that he never plans to play for the Dolphins.
The star receiver took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to respond to a few users questioning his injury and accusing him of “pulling off another Will Fuller.”
“Yea I think just keep posting bs for clicks and it should definitely make the answers appear,” OBJ wrote Wednesday evening. “Anyways everybody over here kno what’s goin on( the team and ppl in this building) time will tell what and how the rest of the story goes.“
In a separate tweet, Beckham wrote that he will ”I didn’t know it was that important to inform u what’s going on.”
Fuller famously signed a one year, $10.6 million deal with the Dolphins in the 2021 offseason. He played only two games — recording four receptions for 26 yards — before being placed on injury reserve.
Although the Dolphins and Beckham have both affirmed he plans to play, he has yet to practice during training camp. Even more concerning: when quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was asked about Beckham’s role in the offense, his response was noncommittal.
“I’ve got to see O catching and running routes with our guys first before I can say anything,” Tagovailoa said.
The Dolphins signed Beckham to a one-year deal that can earn him up to $8.25 million with incentives in May.
“I’m always here to prove something. I want to end my career on my terms,” he said. “Don’t know when that is, one year, two years, three years — but it’s about wanting to end on a strong note. There’s no way I don’t want to finish a high note. It’s about resilience. The way it’s been the last few years, I can’t go out like that.”
The three-time Pro Bowler was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list at the start of training camp due to him “working through minor things” that were “part of the plan for easing him back into football,” according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Although he hasn’t practiced, coach Mike McDaniel indicated Wednesday that he didn’t “have a level of concern” when it came to Beckham’s injury.
“As the process goes, you have to put one foot in front of the other and what you don’t want — and what I know Odell doesn’t want — is getting on the grass and leaving it,” McDaniel said, later adding “he didn’t sign up for football to be in meetings. Even though my meetings are super entertaining, I don’t think that was the case. He’s working his way to be back on the field.”
