Dolphins lose second defensive tackle as Raekwon Davis agrees to deal with Colts
The Dolphins are headed for a rebuild along the defensive line this offseason.
Miami lost its second interior lineman this week, as Raekwon Davis agreed to a two-year, $14 million deal with the Indianapolis Colts, ESPN reported.
Davis, 26, was a second-round pick of the Dolphins in the 2020 NFL Draft. Over four seasons, Davis started 48 games, recording 129 tackles and two sacks. While he didn’t develop into a consistent pass rusher in Miami, he assumed an unheralded job as a run stuffer in the middle of the defense, often taking on double teams.
Davis is the fifth Dolphin and fourth defender to agree to sign elsewhere since the NFL’s legal tampering opened on Monday. Defensive tackle Christian Wilkins (Las Vegas Raiders), safety Brandon Jones (Denver Broncos), outside linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel (Minnesota Vikings) and right guard Robert Hunt (Carolina Panthers) have also agreed to deals with other teams.
Zach Sieler is the lone starter on the defensive line set to return in 2024. Last week, the Dolphins signed veteran defensive tackles Isaiah Mack and Daviyon Nixon to one-year, league minimum deals. They will likely compete for roster spots in training camp.
