Dolphins re-sign defensive back, special teams ace Elijah Campbell

The Dolphins re-signed Elijah Campbell, the team announced Friday, keeping the defensive back and special teams ace in Miami for the 2024 season.

The contract is a one-year deal, a league source told the Miami Herald.

Campbell, who turns 29 in August, was set to enter restricted free agency once the new league year started 4 p.m. Wednesday. The Dolphins would have able to place a qualifying offer — often called a tender — on Campbell, which would give the team the right of first refusal or the opportunity to receive draft compensation for the player signing with another team.

Campbell originally joined the team in 2021 and has primarily contributed in a special teams role. In 2023, he appeared in 15 games and made one start at safety, recording 15 combined tackles, one pass breakup and a forced fumble.
