Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard sustained a foot injury in the first quarter of Sunday’s road game against the Baltimore Ravens. Miami initially announced Howard as questionable to return but downgraded him to out at the beginning of the second half.

After the game, a 56-19 loss for the Dolphins, coach Mike McDaniel said the team would get more information regarding Howard’s injury on Monday.

The injury occurred on Baltimore’s opening possession. Howard, who only played three defensive snaps, spent several minutes in the medical tent and then was later carted to the team’s locker room. CBS reported Howard was unable to put any weight on his left foot.

Eli Apple entered the game for Howard and was later involved in a coverage bust that resulted in a 75-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Lamar Jackson to wide receiver Zay Flowers.
