Here’s what you missed in Episode 6 of ‘Hard Knocks’ with the Dolphins
The sixth episode of HBO’s “Hard Knocks: In Season with the Miami Dolphins” premiered on Tuesday night, with a focus on the team’s preparation for its home game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Here are the highlights from the episode.
▪ Last week, coach Mike McDaniel jokingly informed reporters that he instructed his players to inform all media members to “with all due respect, f off,” if they were asked about anything other than the Dallas Cowboys. The opening scene of the episode shows McDaniel speaking to his players in a team meeting and telling them to do so.
▪ Equipment manager Joe Cimino gives an inside look into how the equipment staff prepared the team’s throwback jerseys for the Cowboys game. Cimino, who is in his 30th season with the team, tells his story of growing up a Dolphins fan during the Shula days to working for his hometown team.
▪ Last week, running back Raheem Mostert told reporters that he went back to his hometown of New Smyrna Beach with his brother, Eugene Blackwell, after breaking the Dolphins’ franchise record for most touchdowns in a season. Cameras capture the brothers reminiscing in their hometown, as well as hosting a holiday toy drive for his foundation. Philanthropic efforts from left tackle Terron Armstead, linebacker Jerome Baker and cornerback, Xavien Howard, among others, are also highlighted.
▪ There is a feature on cornerback Kader Kohou and his family, who came from the Dallas area to watch him play in an NFL game for the first time in his career. Last season, the Miami Herald profiled Kohou and his journey from the Ivory Coast and then-Division II Texas A&M-Commerce to making the Dolphins’ team as an undrafted rookie.
▪ Across the team, there was an exchange of gifts for the holiday season. One of the more notable exchanges came in the quarterback room, where Dolphins great Dan Marino gifted Isotoner gloves, to the delight of all the quarterbacks. Marino was notably a pitchman for the gloves in the ‘90s.
