Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill makes NFL history as he passes 1,000 receiving yards
The road to 2K remains on a smooth path for Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
With a 7-yard reception in the third quarter of Sunday’s home game against the New England Patriots, Hill eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards for the season and made history in doing so.
Hill became the first player in the Super Bowl era to pass 1,000 receiving yards in the first eight games of a season. In Miami’s 31-17 win against New England, Hill caught a game-high eight passes for 112 yards and a 42-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
Through eight games, Hill has recorded 61 receptions for 1,014 yards and nine touchdowns; he leads the league in receiving yards and touchdowns.
Before the season, Hill spoke about the desire to be the first receiver to record a 2,000-yard season and he remains on pace to do so. He would also set a new single-season receiving record, surpassing Calvin Johnson’s 1,964-yard season in 2012.
“It feels great,” Hill said. “God is great. I’ve been calling my shot since I came into the league. A lot of people doubted me, said I couldn’t do this and do that. It’s all about believing in yourself. That’s the one thing my mom and dad always taught me. So, here I am today. So, I’m very blessed, very thankful to be in this position. I had my kids here today, so no greater day to do it.”
The next stop on the 2K tour takes Hill to Germany, where he will face his former team, the Kansas City Chiefs, for the first time since he was traded to the Dolphins.
“I’ve never been to Germany,” he said. “Looking forward to it. Obviously, we’re playing against the Chiefs, so it’s going to be a fun game, see some old faces and get out there, talk trash to my old quarterback [Patrick Mahomes].”
