Dolphins CB Kader Kohou changes jersey number ahead of second season
After a standout rookie year, it appears Dolphins cornerback Kader Kohou will be wearing a new jersey number in the 2023 season.
Kohou on Thursday shared a photo to his Instagram Stories that showed the No. 4 next to his locker name plate, replacing the No. 28 he had in 2022, accompanied with a “4” emoji and three exclamation points.
The NFL passed rule changes ahead of the 2022 season that allows defensive backs such as Kohou to wear jerseys numbers between 1 to 49. Previously, numbers for the position were limited to 20 to 49. At the NFL owners meetings last week, the league also voted to allow the number 0 to be worn by all position groups, except for offensive lineman and defensive lineman.
Kohou made the team as an undrafted rookie and started 13 games, recording 72 tackles, 10 pass breakups and one interception.
Punter Thomas Morstead wore No. 4 for the Dolphins last season but has since signed with the New York Jets in free agency.
