Miami Dolphins among top teams in first report card on player experience

The Dolphins ranked among the top teams in the NFL in a first “report card” on player experience released by the NFL Players Association Wednesday.

Miami ranked second in the report card, only trailing the Minnesota Vikings. The Dolphins received an A+ in five categories: weight room, locker room, strength staff, training room and training staff. Miami also received an A in travel and nutrition and a C+ in treatment of families.

“The facilities grade out at the top of nearly every category, the staff is well respected, and the players feel like both the trainers and strength coaches add to their success,” the report said.

The report also reflected well on the lengths owner Stephen Ross has taken to pour money into the team, with 97 percent of respondents believing that Ross “is willing to invest money into upgrading the facilities, ranking him 8th in this category.”

“The only complaint among respondents for the Dolphins is that they would like a better post-game family area with more accessibility for players’ families,” the report said.

According to the NFLPA, 1,300 players provided information on their own team for the report card in a survey that asked them to give input on their team’s “facilities, certain club personnel/coaches, and other work-related categories, such as [the] club’s treatment of families and team travel.”

“I think a lot of people want to come in,” general manager Chris Grier said earlier Wednesday, answering a question about the team’s backup quarterback options. “They see the excitement of the offense and what [head coach] Mike [McDaniel has] done. I know the Heisman winner [Caleb Williams] made some noise with his tweet about wanting to play for Miami, which is always pretty cool because they see what Mike has done and his coaching staff has done offensively for us.”

The Las Vegas Raiders rounded out the top three teams, while the bottom three teams were the Los Angeles Chargers, Arizona Cardinals and the Washington Commanders.
