Eric Rowe out, Xavien Howard and Emmanuel Ogbah active for Miami Dolphins against Lions
The Miami Dolphins entered their game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday at Ford Field with a half-dozen players listed as questionable to play.
All six of those players — cornerback Xavien Howard, tight end Durham Smythe, defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah, punter Thomas Morstead, safety Clayton Fejedelem and tight end Tanner Conner — are active Sunday.
One interesting player is on the inactive list though: Defensive back Eric Rowe, who is inactive for the second time this season. He did not play in the season opener against the New England Patriots while dealing with a pectoral muscle injury. Rowe did not appear on the injury report leading up to the game this week.
Rowe has played about 30 percent of the Dolphins’ defensive snaps this season but was only on the field for 36 total plays over the past three weeks. He entered Sunday with 20 tackles. Opposing quarterbacks have completed 14 of 18 passes against him this season for 192 yards but no touchdowns for a 111.1 quarterback rating.
With Rowe not playing, Miami will roll with Fejedelem, Verone McKinley and Elijah Campbell as their primary safety options opposite Jevon Holland.
The rest of Miami’s inactive players Sunday: running back Myles Gaskin, wide receivers Erik Ezukanma and River Cracraft and quarterback Skylar Thompson.
Cracraft was the only player ruled out ahead of the game. The Dolphins added him to the injury report Saturday with a neck injury.
The Lions listed defensive linemen Michael Brockers and Charles Harris, cornerbacks Mike Hughes and Chase Lucas, safeties DeShon Elliott and Ifeatu Melifonwu, and offensive tackle Matt Nelson as inactive.
