The Dolphins have been relatively quiet since firing Brian Flores at the conclusion of the 2021 NFL season. The team has reportedly interviewed seven candidates for its opening at head coach but there is no clear indication as to where the team is leaning to fill the vacancy. None of the teams with an opening at head coach — now nine after Sean Payton’s decision to step away from the New Orleans Saints — have made a hire, but multiple franchises are getting close, beginning the second round of interviews.

While the Dolphins continue their search for a new head coach, this past weekend’s slate of games in the divisional round of the NFL postseason served as a clear reminder of the standard they need to reach to become a championship-caliber team. In this week’s Dolphins In Depth podcast, Daniel Oyefusi and deputy sports editor Andre Fernandez discuss the NFL’s divisional round and Miami’s coaching search.
