The Chicago Bears have requested to interview Dolphins senior personnel executive Reggie McKenzie for their general manager opening, according to Sports Illustrated, a move that could potentially give Miami a pair of draft picks.

The NFL’s update to the Rooney Rule states that teams who lose a minority coach or executive to a head coach or GM job with another team will receive a third-round compensatory pick for two consecutive years.

McKenzie, who is Black, joined the Dolphins in February 2019 after seven seasons as GM of the Raiders. He was voted 2016 Executive of the Year by the Pro Football Writers of America.

McKenzie isn’t the only person with Dolphins ties who has been linked to openings with the Bears. Chicago has interviewed former Dolphins coach Brian Flores and former Miami GM Jeff Ireland for its head coach and GM opening, respectively.
