Who is sidelined for the Dolphins’ game against the Giants? Miami has a few injuries
Dolphins safety Brandon Jones and tight end Adam Shaheen were inactive for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants. It was the second straight game both missed.
Jones, who said earlier in the week that he was preparing to play, was sidelined again by ankle and elbow injuries, while Shaheen was out because of a knee injury.
Running back Phillip Linsday, who made his team debut last week, was also inactive because of an ankle injury. Defensive back Trill Williams was inactive with a hamstring injury
Rookie linebacker Jaelan Phillips, who was listed as questionable to play with a hip injury, was active.
For the Giants, quarterback Daniel Jones (neck) was inactive and Mike Glennon started. Cornerback Adoree Jackson (quad) and wide receivers Kadarius Toney (obluque/quad) and Sterling Shepard (quad) were also inactive.
Dolphins’ Patrick Laird injures knee
Running back Patrick Laird was quickly ruled out in the first quarter Sunday after injuring his right knee on a sack by the Giants.
Laird, who was the Dolphins’ primary third-down running back in the first quarter Sunday, was slow to get up after New York linebacker Quincy Roche sacked quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, although he walked off the field by himself into the blue medical tent. He soon headed back to the locker room and was quickly ruled out of the game.
Laird did not record any stats before exiting. He only has one carry for 4 yards and three catches for 17 yards this season.
Roche gets sack in return
Playing at Hard Rock Stadium for the first time as a professional, Roche sacked Tagovailoa in the first quarter.
Roche was a star edge rusher for the Miami Hurricanes last season and recorded 45 tackles, 14 1/2 tackles for loss and 4 1/2 sacks in his lone season for Miami. The linebacker began his college career with the Temple Owls and earned All-American honors in 2019 before transferring to the Hurricanes, where he played his home games in Miami Gardens.
