Miami Dolphins

Ex-Dolphins receiver Kenny Stills wasn’t thrilled with owner Stephen Ross’ recent donation

Kenny Stills might no longer be in Miami, but he hasn’t stopped critiquing the Dolphins.

The Houston Texans wide receiver wasn’t excited by Stephen Ross’ $13 million donation to Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality (RISE), the Dolphins owner’s social justice nonprofit. Stills took to Twitter on Friday to point out Ross’ recent donation counts as a tax write-off.

Stills has never shied from expressing his thoughts on RISE. In August 2019, he told reporters that Ross’ support of Donald Trump doesn’t align with him founding an organization that, according to their website, wants “to eliminate racial discrimination, champion social justice and improve race relations.”

“If you say you’re going to be about something let’s be about it,” Stills said at the time.

The Dolphins dealt Stills to the Texans prior to the start of the 2019 regular season. Some linked his exit to his outspokenness which, in addition to his Trump comments, included criticizing Jay-Z for partnering with the NFL, but Stills disagreed.

After catching 40 balls for 561 yards in 2019, Stills will be one of the several receivers tasked with replacing All-Pro receiver DeAndre Hopkins who the Texans traded to the Arizona Cardinals in the offseason.
